Premiere: sundayclub say hello with the atmospheric thrills of ‘Bannatyne’

A new band on Paper Bag, you say? That’s always cause for celebration. sundayclub (lower case, probably would have released this on Sunday except nobody does that) are Manitobans Courtney Carmichael and Nikki St. Pierre. They’re certainly ones to keep an eye on if their debut single is anything to go by.

Per the band, ‘Bannatyne’ is a song that ‘explores the complex feelings of a burgeoning relationship in and amidst a colourful urban landscape. The song captures a renaissance of freedom, awe, and vulnerability in one’s self and surroundings.’ It’s got a beautiful, hazy dream-pop vibe to it that should appeal to fans of Yo La Tengo, Alvvays or Day Wave.

To coincide with the song’s release today, we’re premiering its self-directed video. Tune in below, and stay tuned for more from this exciting Canadian prospect.
