Back in January, Savannah-based Chris Casey released a genre-smashing look at feeling out of place as a Black man in Georgia, with one foot in R&B flows and the other firmly in alt-rock territory. It’s a head-turner, and this new version of ‘Cow Killers’ is arguably even better, with a little bit of extra spice in the form of a verse from Providence’s Khary.
Sometimes you like someone else’s song so much you just want to hop on it, and that’s exactly how Casey and Khary linked up. “Initially, the song came about in a very casual way. When I made the beat I knew it would be fun to rap on, but after writing the first line I knew I had something special. When the original came out, a lot of people resonated with it and it got attention from tons of people. Khary was one of them, and he reached out wanting to do the remix. I love what Khary is doing with his music sonically, and knew he’d be a great fit.”
Ahead of the song’s release as a single at midnight, we’ve got an early listen of the ‘Cow Killers’ remix for you. Tap in below.
